Smile Baby Steps

You must remember when buying a tuner which you will need for the DPF and CAT delete. Some programmers out there will not give you the option of shutting the DPF CYCLE off. You have to get that in a tunmer. The 2 best out there in my opinion are H and S Mini Maxx, and Spartan. H and S guarantees not to leave a footprint incase of warranty issues, but if you yank the DPF and CAT off they may void your warranty anyway.
You will also have to look into getting a Cold Air Intake kit. By doing all the above you will notice a huge increase in power, throttle response, and fuel mileage. Good luck in your endevors.

Default Exhaust

If you buy the DPF and CAT delete pipe are you planning on keeping your stock muffler and tailpipe. I live just outside Youngstown, Ohio and will be removing my 5 inch magnaflow with 6 inch polished stainless tip soon. I found a great deal on a set of MBRP Cool Duals exhaust that I bought and should be getting soon. Probably wont install till spring in this great Ohio Wheather, but would give you a gtreat deal if thats what you choose to go with. I only have about 300 miles on it, but by the time I take it off maybe 1000-1500 miles on it. List price was around 500, would sell to you complete for 250. Complete, all clamps, 4 to 5 inch pipe etc...... etc......... My phone number is 330-760-1893, and my name is Kevin if your interested. Thank You

Want to do it right? Right is relative. Dpf delete and tuner a must in my opinion. Want to open her up and see real gains (HP, TQ, Fuel mileage) then see my list of mods below. Can all be done in one afternoon by 1 guy.

Yeah the h&s mini max or black max is a good tuner. Get a full exhuast minus the down pipe. its pretty good in stock form. just when you do it remember to install programmer and turn off the dpf before you remove the stock
exhuast.

When you guys talk about significant gains in fuel mileage, what kind of numbers are you talking about? I have been all over the H&S forums and most are indicating fairly insiginificant fuel mileage gains such as 1-3 mpg. No doubt about the hp and torque benefits, but there seems to be a lot of debate about fuel mileage gains.
If I knew I could get a 5 mpg increase towing my fifth wheel, it is a done deal.

that's a tall order...5mpg....it's possible. I can only speak about the H&S product..it gives you the tools to get your mpg up. Along with the obvious ..DPF/CAT delete...the H&S tuners also give you some tranny tunes that help you tailor the tuner to your needs..as well as controlling low boost fueling. Once you choose to delete the DPF/CAT the H&S tuner also disables the EGR. Most folks end up removing the EGR system or use blocking plates. This is to prevent coolant from entering the engine should the cooler breach. Another popular mod is re-routing the CCV. I was getting 10mpg. Now i get 14-15mpg...those numbers are not towing numbers. Overall...the truck drives and shifts ...in my opinion...much better...smoother. And you have the ability to change power settings on the fly. best of luck. PS...check out the 6.4 performance threads.
