Took this post off of one of my RV forums. I don't know if this sounds right or not, I never been around the 6.4. Do you think the dealer is being truthful with the man?
Doug F-250 out of fuel problems « on: December 06, 2011, 03:00:34 AM » I have a 2008 F-250 Diesel. I have been on the side of the road broken down twice in the last 2 months. Both times I got the lose of power normally associated with injector problems (I've had those go out, too). The first time was 110 miles west of Boise Idaho. The second just north of Fallbrook CA on December 1st I was running the 65 gal aux tank. Both times the truck was towed to a Ford dealer. Heller Ford in Econdido ca called me today (Dec 4th) to ask if I was was running the 65 gal aux tank. I replied yes. The aux tank still had 10 gal in it and my truck tank was full with 38 gals in it. He stated that the truck had been starved for fuel. He further explained that whenever the motor is starved for fuel, the motor will shut down AND will not restart until an aeration test is performed at a dealership! Even if you have fuel in the other tank! Which means if you ever run out of fuel, you will have to be towed to a Ford Dealership and have them run the test. Then reset the ECM so you can get on the road again. Ford in Detroit wants me to keep both tanks at no less than 50% for my 65 gal and 38 gal tanks.

Just get an 85 gallon L tank in the back bed with a DC pump. When the 38 gallon tank gets low, stop and pump it full with the DC pump from the 85 gallon tank. Don't worry about switches and valves.
Try running just the 38 gallon tank with using the aux tank. I believe there is a venting problem. Sort of like not having the screw open on the top of the gas cap of a snapper lawn mower.

This kinda defeats the purpose of having the big tanks dont you think. I cant believe that ford is telling you that, no wait a minute I can.
