I have an F250 2008 6.4L. K
I have done a few mods, S & B cold air intake, H & S Mini Maxx Tuner, DPF/CAT Delete with 5 inch straight pipe Magnaflow exhaust. The 2 codes I keep getting are ----P006B-- MapSensor, and P2563 Turbo Boost Control Position Sensor Range/Performance. I had it at ford they say that with all the stuff off (DPF AND CAT), and with having the Cold Air Intake the motor has no idea what it's doing. They recommended me putting back to stock. I pull a 40 FT Fifth wheel and stock is not an option. I did replace the EBP Sensor and cleared codes was good for about 100 miles then same thing. I called H & S they said the 6.4L fords don't like the cold air intakes and if I went back to stock air cleaner assembly the problem would go away. There has to be a ton of trucks just like mine running out there with the same mods, are they having issues as well? I have a hard time believing that I spent all this money just to be told the 6.4 don't like it. I have an air dog yet to install, but I can't get rid of these issues before throwing something else in the mix....... Does anyone have any idea where to go next ? Any help would be appreciated from everyone. Dumb question but I have to ask, my 5 inch Magnaflow is a straight pipe, I did just order a new exhaust from MBRP, COOL DUALS there called. Can this be as simple as I need a muffler that's why it doesn recognize any back pressure. How is everyone else running similar setups like mine getting away with it ? My new MBRP wont have a muffler either.....Suggestions from anyone ? Thank You in advance...

You can see what i got for a set up, even had the charge pipe rebuilt, mine is getting more air than stock,a lot more air, AFe intake and 4" straight back exhaust, had it on since march of this year and have had no issues or codes being thrown. Not sure what yours is up to or why.....

I find it odd that H&S says the 6.4 doesn't like a cold air intake. Especially since nearly every modded 6.4 out there has this upgrade. I have had no codes since installing mine. I have mostly run KEM tunes though. I wish I could help a bit more with your delima and will ask around at work tomorrow. It doesn't suprise me that the stealership will blame the mods...if your windshield wipers were leaving streaks they would blame it on the tuner, at least that's how it is out here in eastern VA.

I would put the old air box back on and see if the code come back. I have seen a few post were the air box was the problem.

i.e, If it sensed a Bogus Cold temp.. It, through the PCM/ECM, might trigger a Cold Start feature, or two. Same/Same with Hot temps.. The PCM/EMC might go into various Modes, to try and correct the [possibly Bogus] issue. Set Codes too. Possibly retain them, if it keeps detecting a bogus issue... continuously. After months of chasing this problem, the owner of H&S called me this evening. He is saying that the turbo vane position sensor is out of whack. He said they can just feflash the ECM, but recomended replacing it, then having the ECM calibrated to the new sensor. He said the P006B code is either the map sensor or the vane position sensor on the turbos. He said 99% sure the sensor isvthe culprit. Now to find a dealer that will work on m truck with the mods done......anyone know a dealer in NE Ohio? Thanks to everyone for their feedback on my issues, all was very appreciated.m

Hmmmm.. Maybe H & S has it dialed in.. But.. with all your exhaust mods, do you think the MAP sensor could be detecting Over Boost (?), making the ECM try and reduce it.. by sending preset, by design, signals to the turbo vane position sensor ?
A Tune.. to counter that may be possible ? Just something to Ponder. ![]() Finding a Dealer to work on it.. may be a Challenge. |
