Hi everyone. I'm a new owner and so far I am loving my 09 f350 SRW.
I've done a lot of reading in the past few weeks about the gains people have seen both in HP and Fuel Mileage with the spartan. My question is has anybody seen any damage resulting from these huge hp boosts. It seems hard to believe that damage to the powertrain/drivetrain doesnt occur. I ask this question because the knowledge you all provide is great and i'm really wanting to get one of these things. |

Well you can do damage to anything with high hp without doin internal mods to your motor. The stock motor is built to last a very long time and be effiecient. We all know on the 6.0's that higher hp mods CAN blow headgaskets. I dont know much about the 6.4's or seen a lot of people do other mods to them. If you dont overdue it with the tuner, I'd say you would be ok but make sure you have gauges for monitoring your vitals. Thats one step into savin your motor. Someone who knows more about the 09's will chime in im sure.

Modding your truck with any ones tuner could cause issues . It most likely will not but allot of that depends on you . Definitely get some gauges , egt , trans temp , boost at least . These guys that do the tuning spend a ton of time getting them right . You would most likely be fine but like any other power increasing mod you are asking more of the motor than intended so just use your head , run the pee out of it every day , you will most probably break something sooner than later .
On a side note a dpf delete and a tune on the 6.4 actually gets rid of a few problems that the trucks have . They tend to have regen issues and get allot of fuel in the oil . Make sure you do oil changes and fuel filter changes regularly .

I was thinking of doing that but whats the deal with deleting the dpf? And will it void my warranty? My truck has 18k miles on it. Also i heard some where about a fine from the feds if its removed? Any body know for sure in the AZ area? thanks

Yes , It will void the warranty (as will a tune with most dealers) but you can put it back and remove the tune before dealer work . It is illegal as well but so is removing the cats on sports cars and everyone does it . The chances of the feds getting under your truck are slim to none .

I have the HandS on my truck with the DPF delete an five inch mag afpoe. I only use it on the mild setting and what a difference, mileage in town unloaded is 15-16, and highway unloaded is 21-22. I pull a 40 ft fifth wheel and still get 16-17 on the highway. As far as leaving a footprint, HandS says theirs is the only one that does not leave any marks on the stock ECM. Good Luck

I had the Spartan 210 w DPF delete (and lower hp choices) on my 09 King Ranch Crew.
Its fun at first, but the reality of spending $10,000 on another motor made me kick it back from 210hp to like 100 extra hp. What I focused on was the boost. When you could easily kick it up to peg the boost gauge (30lbs+), I thought that was too extreme for a stock motor, so I backed off. still fun wit an extra 75/100 hp, especially on a 6.4 Either way, if you put your foot into it for too long, you are running a risk.
