Also, the 3.31 gearing should help the fuel mileage. With the price of diesel these days (around $3.00/gallon in the DFW area), every little increase in mileage helps.

For my trailer (16,000 fully loaded) and occasional towing that I do, the SRW tow rating is sufficient, I get the antisway software, and it fits in my garage.
Wouldn't the 10.000lb GVWR Pkg. be a down grade from the standard 11,400lb GVWR ???

Yes it would be. This whole thread is confusing.

Actually, Ford says there is a difference in payload for the 10k GVWR vs. the 11,500 GVWR with the 10k having higher payload, by about 300#s. Surprised the heck out of me, I'm not sure how a higher payload is derived from a lower GVWR, but that's what both the brochure and website say.

Gambler, I'm not saying your wrong, But I could not find an apples to apples comparison that would change the payload cap.

Yes, I do know that Ford does not make it very clear, and that there are a lot of variables.

That being said; let me gave an example.
Truck 'B' will weigh 300lbs more and have 300lbs less in Payload cap. than truck 'A'

Truck 'A' 10,000lb GVWR, 4,000lb Payload cap., 5,600lbs Tare (truck w/No passengers or fuel)
*That leaves only 400lbs left!

Truck 'B' 11,500lb GVWR, 3,700lb Payload cap., 6,000lbs Tare.
*That leaves 1,800lbs left!

It is all in the numbers and where you put your load!
For me, I would rather have the higher GVWR.
