Default Oil Fill from Factory

I have a new 2011 6.7 power stroke with less then 3000 miles. I see it can use a little oil added. Does anyone know what weight oil is put in at the factory?

Your owners manual should tell you.

Completely Stock.

I had a Detroit Diesel 8V92TA in a KW dump truck in 1980. That sucker would put out 425 hp but would never out pull a CAT.

First off, Welcome to SSD.com, from Indiana.
Glad you found us and hope you come back often.
If it were my new truck with only 3000 miles on it
and it was low of oil, I would drive it by where I
bought it and let them check the oil and make a
record of the usage.
Hope you can post up some pictures of your new
truck soon.
Doug

X2 on what Doug said about carry it to the dealer. A new truck shouldn't be losing or possibly using oil.

It was only down 1/2 qt. I was getting ready to take off on a 1000 mile trip pulling a trailer and I just wanted to top off the oil in order for the engine to have plenty. What weight do most of you use? I was thinking of going to 15-40 at the first change.

15 W 40 is used a lot and so is 5 W 40. I am running 5 W 40 in my 6.0. 10 W 30 is for gas motors.
