A Rule of Thumb ? :

Always buy Diesel fuel at the local stations in your area, that have a Good turn over of product. Like a Major Brand Station.
When yer on the road, buy Diesel at Major Truck Stops, where you see the big trucking companies getting fuel.

Change your fuel filters regularly.. or At Least.. per your trucks maintenance schedule mileage.

Joe

On your F-450 do what Joe said to do, just make sure you only use Motorcraft
Fuel filters and with that 6.4 I would change them out at 10.000 miles, the 6.4 likes only clean fuel.

If you think the 6.0 is bad.....Get a 6.4
