Why would the new 6.7 TD be restricted to only 20% biodiesel? I don't understand why it (or any diesel) could not run 100% biodiesel?

Because Ford can not control who makes the fuel. My truck says to only run 5% and I have run 99% Bio and it runs great. Just keep extra fuel filters in the truck with you. Bio cleans out the fuel tank quickly and all of the garbage, if any, goes straight to the filters. You have been warned.

OK thanks. One of the reasons I wanted another diesel was so I could get into making my own biodiesel to help save on money for fuel.

let me add a nickle
i ran straight waste filtered peanut oil in my 06 6.0 with no issues, cept fuel filters

i then dropped to a more sensible ratio of 12 %, because vitamin B12 sounded better for the 6.0 than 5%

it tolerated it well and even when it was cold it still ran well

The peanut oil was the problem with your fuel filters, it seemed to gel TEN TIMES sooner and warmer then other oil. I confirmed this with a few other people as well.

I used peanut oil in the summer

I have run99% Bio diesel in my truck without any mods. Just one thing you MUST do: carry a pair of brand new fuel filters. Bio will remove any junk in your tank and send it down the fuel lines where one or both fuel filters will catch it and become clogged. Don't get stranded out on a lonely two lane road at night without the filters and a few tools.

How are people makin their own biodiesel at their house? I've seen some shows on how the big companies do it but its expensive the way they do it. Atleast in the quantities they make. I'd love to make my own fuel but dont know how expensive it would be. I've seen they are usin algae now. That would be cool cause my gpa's pond gets tons of it in the summer haha.

My under standing is the newer trucks cant run high numbers of Biofuel like B99 because of the DPF filter. It seems to clog them up. So if thats the case if you delete the DPF then you should beable to run it.

i'd really like to learn too but around here we have below zero temps some times for 7 months a year so bio is not used. not even B20.

I had a Detroit Diesel 8V92TA in a KW dump truck in 1980. That sucker would put out 425 hp but would never out pull a CAT.
