OK,this is the thermostat that senses oil temp and engages the flapper ? I pulled it out and it looks like it will have to stay in the pedistal. So, do I plug it back in or leave it unplugged? Also ,my 16 yr old turbo assenbly bolts are not looking too good but I cant find a fastener (bolt) kit anywhwere so it looks like I'm off to the fastener supply house in the morning.

Look up ebpv delete. You'll find instructions on how to delete it.

I did look up the delete. It seems that most people just buy the pedistal that doesnt have it and if I had time thats what I'd do.A couple guys just un plug it and leave it so I guess thats my plan.

No, let me find one with pics.
There was one recently updated with pics.
Basically you need a few freeze plugs or pipe plugs.

In the "gut & plug thread There was a pic from a guy that filled the sensor hole with JB Weld, then put the retainer clip back on. Why not do the same with the actuater houseing & This would seal the ports without welding.

Well you could.
I tapped mine and used pipe plugs.

The ports inside where the actuator goes, I drilled them out slightly and drove in a BB. (Iirc)
I don't remember doing anything with the hole the "sensor" (which is actually more like the ipr by function) is in. Can't remember why I didn't. I know I left the stem and Solenoid. I just cut the wires off.

Where the actuator rod comes through I put a pipe plug.

On the valve it self I removed it completely and used pipe plugs, as I'd heard of issues using freeze plugs.

Of course mine is slightly different being a obs, but it's the same principle.
You could just leave everything in place, and unplug it until you can just buy the delete pedestal.
