I have a 2006 f250 cclb with the 6.0L, mods: fuel economy tune (super chips device(yes I am getting an sct i just had the super chips from my previous truck)) exhaust was ripped of just after downpipe, under heavy acceleration and on cold mornings I get a good sized cloud of white/grey smoke that smells of fuel. truck still operates this way when warm. If I put the hammer down it is more of a grey color than a white, but under startup it is definitely white. Had a little leak by at the degas bottle after I bought it, changed the pressure cap and don't have that issue anymore. I initially thought injectors but that should stop after truck warms, however very rarely (and I mean if i look left while holding my finger 3" from my nose with a blue moon and a dog barking type of rarely) the engine dues shudder but only at an idle. Turbo spools fine, checked play found no concerns there. unfortunately i don't have any tools to inform me of voltage to the ficm, battery's where replaced in Jan of this year and alternator sometime before ('14 reman sticker on it.) I was hoping someone had similar issues and got it figured out or someone could point me in the right direction of where to go or how to test.

Good Morning and :welcome to SDD. Yes, get it scanned or we all are guessing. There are codes in the PCM even if the Engine light is not on. Thanks for joining us. :)

Thanks everyone, sorry I didn't include earlier my codes consist of:
P0046-t/super charger boost ctrl solenois circ range/perf
P0404-exhaust gas recirculation circ range/perf
P0460-fuel tank level indicator circ error
P0528-fan speed sens circ no signal
P1000-monitor checks not complete

I should also add that I do have a "smoke switch" installed because, well after a while the turbo can get quite annoying

*UPDATE*
I had what i thought was a separate issue with the battery light occasionally coming on while operating at lower rpm. The truck died on me one night so I tested my batteries and checked the pigtail to the alternator both checked out ok. So I went ahead and replaced my alternator and belt (alternator was a piece of cake, belt not so much.) upon start up she gives a small puff of black (what she normally did before) and no smoke under heavy acceleration in either cold or warm operating states. I suppose I got fortunate for it to be an alternator instead of injectors or another issue. So what I believe what was happening was maybe the injectors/ficm (which also got tested afterwards and checked ok) where not getting the power they needed to open fully. Please correct me if i'm wrong, more or less just curious as to how an alternator might cause those symptoms

I am having similar problems with my 6.0 2006 F-350 while the check eng. lite is on (Codes PO273 & PO404) truck runs fine. Clear the codes you get long crank & it starts alot of smoke. No throttle response coming off hiway speeds or coming off a stop,it then picks up.If it was a gas burner I would say flooding. I cleaned the EGR valve no help,I checked the #5 injector connector no change ????????????????????? where to from here ? Thanks
