    i was told many years ago that the dual mass flywheel was install because of the extreme vibration caused by the diesel engine and with out the dual mass takeing up vibration it can cause the trans bell housing to crack i have seen this happen on the old 6.9 and 7.3 naturals

    the way it sounds the ipr or hi press pump is acting upneed to get a monitor on the system and see what the codes are and icp is doing when it acts up like that could also still be an icp sensor going stupid

    Where is the fix for dim overhead console?

    my nephew had the same problem and found an online a fix that involves taking the unit apart and resoldering a computer chip back in he did this said it was easy and everything works ok i am going to try it this weekend

    i am guessing this is a newer truck with electric fuel pump check fuel pressure sounds like filter is running out of fuel possible pump or tank sock are bad you could also pump cover on filter to see if houseing has sufficient fuel

    dieseltech1 ok dave if you want to locate it in the up tube your still only looking at one bank what if an injector fails on the other side and starts to over fuel the turbo does not absorb that much heat to cause an issue and if it did then then aftermarket companys would install dual pyros...

    why would you mount a pyrosensor so it only monitors a couple of cylinders they are made to monitor the whole exhaust system temps so you have an idea what the engine is doing as far as exhaust temps all heavy duty pyros are mounted within 6 inches of the turbo outlet and the eot will run about...

    you have two high pressure oil lines that take a special tool or just unscrew fittings two studs or bolts then pull access cover off of front houseing there is a bolt remove that and the gear is a wedge fit

    green coolant is ok for older engines as a pm helper add a pint of dca once a year and change coolant every 4-5 years you can pick up dca at any truck dealership

    check the valley good the high pressure pump can leak at the outlet fitting this runs down the back of the engine and looks like a pan or rear main seal leak there is an o-ring kit to repair a leak at the pump and can be done quickly if it is the pan the engine has to come out use ultra grey...

    does the engine sound like it runs out of fuel or does it shut off suddenly there are several items that can cause this issue can you monitor the engine when it does run see what the icp is doing check for stored codes
