Hello, I am new to the site. I have a 2006 250 superduty, 6.0l, no mods yet. I am wondering about taking the muffler off at the clamps, cat back, and trying it out just to see how it sounds and performs. Planning to just put back 4" pipe, with no muffler. I am curious if there is any reason not to run the truck with no pipe past the cat, other than exhaust fumes, that may cause damage?
Thanks

No, there is no reason NOT to run without a muffler. KEEP THE CAT someplace safe. You will need it soon. They are $$$$$ to replace.

You won't see that much difference without the muffler vs. the Cat. Take the Cat off and run the muffler, now you'll notice a nice rumble, and a bit of turbo whistle. Watchout though, before you know it, you'll be running straight pipe, and really get a bad case of P.M.S., ( Powerstroke Mod Syndrome).:sly
