Picked up the truck after the latest flash Friday. So far I like it. I have noticed the following:

1. huge increase in throttle response. I don't have to worry about torbo lag when pulling into traffic from a stop.
2. more power overall
3. shifting pattern seems to be smoother
4. louder at cruising speeds. it used to be silent at hwy speeds. now there is a low pitched roar from under the hood.

I have had 1 previous flash that seemed to take away from the performance. This one has seemed to give it back. I have not used TH yet, I'll be towing sometime this week and post those results later.-popcorn

Make sure you include fuel economy info on your follow up report. That's always a big deal.

I had this flash done on Feb 22--06E17--and the truck is more gutless than it ever was and fuel economy is down the toilet. I was getting a few EGR codes before I shipped my SCMT back for updating, so that may be part of my issue. If your flash is working well then maybe the EGR is the problem on my truck and not the flash.

Tex...

I can't really comment on fuel economy. I tow 7-10K 99% of the time so my results are much different than people who only pull occasionally. Since I bought it @ 14K I've gotten 10-12 depending on how heavy my foot is. (usually filled with lead) On weekend trips w/o towing I get 16-17mpg. When I have some new results I'll post them. :D

Update.... don't get it done yet...

It seemed fine for the first couple days, today it started running like hell. Studdering @ 30-40, no pattern to the shifting, smooth on one acceleration and won't shift on the next. When I tried switching to guage mode on the dash I got "888888888". Dealer said, "It is relearning my driving habits" They didn't have an explanation for the 8's so for now I have no function in that display.

I can't afford the time to take it back right now so I hope they're right and it corrects itself.

UPDATE AGAIN:
Back to dealer today. Hooked up my trailer, hit the highway and could break 45MPH. turbo farts & black smoke.

On a side note I had an oil leak (BH). I cleaned it multiple times and it always came back. They said they couldn't find the leak, added dye, cleaned it up, blah blah blah. That was 300 miles ago and I have no leak. Is there any chance they are using an additive to stop these leaks until the warranty is up? I used degreaser and a power washer to clean it and it always came back. Why when the wipe it off does the problem not reappear immediatly?:dunno

I raise the B.S. flag on the instrument display. The 8888888 is obviously a fault and has nothing to do with the transmission relearning shift points. I doubt the dealer is putting in an additive to seal a leak to get you past warranty, the warranty on the engine is 5 yr/100,000 miles. How old is your truck?

I think your problems have nothing to do with the reflash, it is just coincidental that they occurred after you had it done. As for the oil leak and the dye additive, the dye is a UV type, if they have put it in your oil, you can check it yourself with an inexpensive "black light". If you have an oil leak, it will glow. If there is an oily substance on the bell housing but it does not glow, it is melted assembly lube, a known issue and nothing to be concerned about.

It's an 03 w/ 65K shouldn't any assembly grease be worked out by now??? At this point I would love an assembly lube leak!!!! I'm bitching about the leak because they had it 3 weeks ago for oil leaks. http://www.cj-servicesinc.com/Truck%20troubles.htm A week after that visit I change the oil and the BH is covered again. I took it back and they did the blah, blah, blah mention earlier.

The good news is I have an 03 with a nice shiny BH!!! It hasn't had a chance to get wet since its always covered with oil.:thumbs

Bad news I can't pull my work trailer with a Taurus or Focus so I have to turn down work whenever it's in the shop. You can't rent anything with a hitch around here to save your life.

The saga continues Thursday -popcorn

What is 1-800-my-lemon for $200, Alex?

You can't give these guys an inch unfortunately. They will piss around until the warranty is up and then it's your problem.

I hadn't heard about the melted assembly lube thing. I think I have that. When my truck was brand new I had some of this black oily crud on the BH, but the engine oil was clean, golden still. I was very confused. Haven't crawled under it lately. How long is this stuff supposed to ooze out?

I just stopped looking at the BH.
i spill enough oil during oil and filter changes,(2.5 gallon jugs will flat dumps some oil out):D that we may never know the source of the leak, but it aint corroded anywhere around the rear of the engine :sweet
