gauges

ive decieded to get gauges before a chip, im geting the pillar mount

what gauges would you ( anyone ) or have bought that you have and like,
please let me know, pyrometer, trans temp, and boost, brand and type( manual and electrical)

the boost gauge is mechanical, egt and tranny are electric. I have autometer sport comp 2's with the silver bezel

im running z-series autometers...they match my factory dials pretty well.

even on the 03+ you NEED a trans gauge & EGT...those are the MINIMUM
gauges any of us should be running...the BOOST gauge is a nice to have
and its more fun to watch than any of the others (it can help you
diagnose problems...more so on the VGT 6.0)

when you get the gauges let me know if you want help putting 'em in.

I suggest getting electrics for ease of install despite their higher price. Pyro is a must, tranny is good, boost is for fun/info.

I have the Isspro EV series (white/black w/ red pointer) pyro, boost & tranny all electrical. They're easy to read and easy to see at night. I'd get them again.

Also avail in 40 & 60 psi

I bought mine from summit and put it together all by my lonesome...its
really not TOO a bad job...still id highly recommend a kit (from one of
our sponsors) that has all the wiring & connectors....just makes the
job easier....and itll save you from having to run 'round gathering wire,
connectors/splices, drills & taps.

you really wont save <much, if any thing at all> if you build it yourself.

some even allow you to choose the type & brand of gauges you
prefer...packaged w/ everything you need. (links below the kit photos)

i'm running the sport comp 2's like rooster with the blue led's and couldnt be happier. i think it was like $220 for pyro & boost and pillar no trans yet maybe later( 6 spd) did it myself in afew hrs. just remember to tightn the boot back on the intake...haha took off and sounded like an elephant farted under the hood. i was like great i screwed it up but luckily that was all it was pilot error.

Chris -

When you do your install plan to drill/tap the exhaust manifold
for the Pyro Probe...its the most accruate measurement location....
i ran mine post turbo @ 1st and moved it when i installed my
mbrp turbo back.

i dont know the 7.3L as well but i would save yourself the trouble
and drill / tap for the boost pressure too...some who have used the
T fitting (none tap) have experianced buzzing in their gauges.
