I am new to this great forum and like reading and learning about Power Strokes. I know many of you can point me in the right direction.

For several years I have taken my 7.3 to the dealer for oil changes and the dealer used the MC 15w40 and MC oil filter no compliants/problems. Over the last few oil changes I started changing my own oil. I started using Rotella 15w40 and stuck with the MC oil filter #FL1995. I am not interested in synthetic oil at this point, but am interested in your opinions of Rotella 15w40 for my rig.

Thanks:sweet

Thanks DaveBen,

I was thinking of switching to Rotella 5w40 next time around during the cold months. Problem is, I just changed the oil 15w40 Rotella. I don't want to dump fresh oil at this point.

its good oil, inexpensive and performs well...its all ive ever used
in my truck. There are some cheaper alternatives that perform
equally as well <tractor supply>

i think frequent changes of the oil & the filter can, if nothing else,
rid the motor (oil) of impurities...i subscribe to the change it and change
it often school of thought.

Thanks for the reply,
I had a hard time choosing a decent dino 15w40 so I went with Rotella since many diesel owners use it and it is easy to find. Of course I stick with the MC #1995 oil filter changing them every 6 months or 5000 miles. I think good maintance is important. Just recently purshased/ installed a Ford remain alt old one went south.

Thanks for the feedback. No complaints with the Rotella, truck not complaining either. The reason I say that is because I've read some other Powerstroke owners didn't like the Rotella.

Also glad to hear you like the Rotella and MC filter. Always liked the 1999 Powerstrokes. How many miles on yours?
