This is my first diesel and and new to adding fuel additive. I bought some last night and am curious as to what you guys use to measure out the correct amont each time you fill up? The 32 ounce bottle will treat 100 gallons, but my tank is only 29 gallons. :dunno

So what do you guys use to measure out the correct amount?????

Thanks!!!

I get Stanadyne Performance Formula in 1/2 gal jugs. It calls for 4 ozs per tankful. I transfer it to an empty Sta-Bil bottle that has the 1 oz measure on the other pour spout.

I tried the Ford stuff... other than stinking something terrible when you get it on you, made no difference at all...

i am on the prescribed 'ford stuff'. don't know if it IS making a difference just helping out w/ the cold starts. as soon as my stash goes away i may switch to the diesel kleen - we shall see what that does.

oh yeah, most bottles have ounce marks on them. otherwise it is just a simple math calculation to fit for the 29 gal. tanks. my ford stuff says 4 oz. at fill up. i just follow the mark....:thumbs

32oz bottle /100 gallons treated =.32oz per gallon X 29 gallons = 9.28oz per tank. Anything over, say, an even 9oz and you're getting the job done. :sweet

I prefer Howes over Powerservice- both the TDI and the PSD seem to like it better. Thanks Crumm! Howes Diesel Treat comes in 1/2 gallon shatterproof jugs, thing is the caps are not shatterproof!

Howes dosage is 1/2oz per gallon- so a 20 oz bottle is purrrfect for 40 gallon tank. I use Glaceau Vitamin Water bottles to measure out the dosage- the bottles are 20 oz bottles. I get 3 fills of the little bottles per 1/2 gallon. You could look in the cooler for 16 oz bottles of someting like Nestea or similar wide mouth bottle.

I use power service and I belive it to be one of the best additives. My wife use to work at a trucking company and that is all they used. I also have a small trucking company in town here and they are using the same thing and they also swear by it.

Dido on what machine said .32oz per gal I will not hurt if you get a little more in the tank. I have been using a pop bottle, just take a marker and mark out 10 oz all the way up. When you go to fill up just add a little.
