Um, that goes for all automatic transmissions...............
And Chevies aren't bulletproof. I blew out the 4L60E in my 1500 a few years back, driving it gently and taking good care of it. And don't get me started on Dodge trannies.
Eh, who cares anyway, I like stick more than any auto. My...
The statement about the Ford tranny is pretty uninformed. Yes, the 4R100 had problems. But guess what?! That was a 7.3 transmission. They replaced it with a 5 speed for the 6.0, it's the 5R110 now(or Torqshift). This transmission is a LOT stronger than the old one, and will compete with the...
I must admit, it's sometimes fun to watch that MPG display change wildly. In the 98 chrysler i had, it would be no effort at all to see 99 mpg on there.
Why do you want a trip computer anyway? They're horribly inaccurate and don't tell me anything I couldn't figure out on my own anyway. For keeping track of distance and direction, you'd be money ahead to buy a navi unit. But that's just me and my 92 Custom(lower than the XL) with no frills...
Yeah, when I drive my friend's 02 you have to get on it to hear the whistle, but oh is it sweet :sly
I really like the whistle on my uncle's 94 IDI though, i'm not going to lie.
Even IF you manage to get it to bolt to the motor, getting a computer to control it is a whole nother gigantic and expensive problem. Your money would be better spent building up that 4R100.
BTW, the Torqshift is called the 5r110, not 5r100
+1 on giving her hell to clean out the turbo.
The puff of black smoke when you get on it is perfectly 100% normal behavior for a diesel. Some people actually work hard to make their trucks do that.
