    Well after spending the afternoon chasing down every connection to and from the tail lights and cruise I still had a the same problem. The issue was fixed by.... opening up the actual cruise switch and cleaning the contacts of coffee or cola or what ever was in there. Easy to do but unhappiness...

    Nope, I'm not getting any hard or soft codes, no CEL and the speedo doesn't drop off like it lost the signal.

    I got an 08 F250 4X4 6.4 auto and the cruise is not working very well. There are times it won't turn on/set, other times it works great, then it will just shut off all on it's own. Where do I start?

    Ah no, the truck will just blow unburned fuel out the pipe cause it can't light it off. Big ol mess!!

    Try changing where you get your fuel. I'm up in Canada and Petro Canada makes Diesel Max, the extra 7 cents a liter well worth it. Smoother starts in the cold, less engine noise .....I don't go south so I don't know what would be the comparable but cheapo fuel is cheap for a reason. My 2c.

    I'm from 1/2 way up Manitoba Canada and we use the factory Ford one but ya gata compare the temps out side to what your doing. Even in -30 you can get these trucks on the warm side when towing cause the stock gauges are out to lunch. They don't go past center till about 240!!, you've been...

    Ya if it's still under warentee take r back, I'd say the DPF has fallen a part and that's why your getting soot at the tail pipe. To buy one out right and new your lookin at around 4K US, but if you dig around there are lots that have been pulled and are just bout given away, so look around.

    A lot of things add up to more regens, extended cold idle up, heavy foot with cold engine, heavy foot period, poor quality oil, poor quality fuel, dirty air filter, idling all day....but black soot on an emissions complete truck is not a good sign. That tail pipe should be clean.
