Oh and the lift i'm fabbing for it will use 1 ton leaf springs with custom mounts. Pretty much boxing in the ENTIRE frame with 3/8 steel.

I want to stay with a standard. Is there some adapter to connect the current 5 speed (Has bellhousing as part of the tranny) to the 7.3?

So this mist have a ZF. The case is 1 piece. Now the question, do I have to find a different tranny to mate to the 7.3?

What tbe heck is "FWIW"? Definitely should be enough frame work, it's going to be lifted about 12", and I have some frame reinforcements planned.

Well that's half the question! We're getting some where! Glad to know the 89' has a tranny with a removeable bellhousing. If it helps, the F-250 has a manual trans, with 1st,2nd,3rd,4th, and "D" (Overdrive)? And the transfer case shifter lever is on the floor to the left of the tranny shifter...
I want to swap the 300 straight six gasser in my 89' F-250 for a 7.3. Found one out of a 95' F-350, and want to know if the current trans will bolt up? Its a 4 speed with overdrive. Thanks!
