No, You're most likely right. Do the dealerships tear into the blocks?, and since the cylinders aren't sleeved once the walls are damaged isn't it game over?

Hello

Took it in and they found #3 cyl. low comp. & bad EGR cooler. It has around 57,600mi. Same cyl. they replaced the injector on before I bought it with 32,000 mi. The turbo had also been replaced.

Thanks all for the welcome! Spent the last few weeks trying to decide what action to take in response to needing my 6.0 replaced. Just gave the go ahead on the installl of a reman. 6.0. Just under $15,000! On the bright side with only averaging around 5,600 mi. a yr., If I only get 60,000...

Longtime Ford owner. Bought my first diesel truck (05, F350) used in 07. I tow a 25' gooseneck, 3h slant or a 6X12 enclosed. I average about 5,600 mi./yr.
