    Loose oil filter?

Same experience with my first PSD years ago and assumed the vibration loosened the filter. Since then, and dozens of oil changes, I hand tighten and then put a little extra crank with the filter wrench... not too much to ruin the seal. No leaks since.

POWER STEERING / POWER BREAK LOSS help me

I recall when the vacuum pump was going out on my '97 PSD that I had virtually no brakes at idle and had to rev the motor (6 speed) to get enough vacuum for the brakes to work. New vacuum pump solved the problem. I know it is a different setup from the later model vacuum pump but the same...

    Is AIC still available?

I understand the apprehension about buying electronics, or anything else for that matter, from an unknown source but $500 is a bit much. I bought a new one complete from a guy on the "other" forum for $200 and have seen quite a few with PTO, bracket and harness for around that price. Either way...

    Carpet

I used to install automotive carpet and you will need to cut and sew to get roll goods to lay in there neatly. Pretty good job if it is something new to you; otherwise, I would order the molded carpet as suggested.

    where to get gauges

I bought an ISSPRO, three-gauge pillar and a two-gauge overhead from dieselmanor.com and have been impressed with their customer service. Any questions or problems and you can get in touch with them quickly via email or telephone. Additionally, they have an after hours technical support line if...

how to prep a gauge pod fpr paint?

This is what dieselmanor recommends: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Gauge Mount Painting Tips 1) Prep the Gauge Mount. The first thing you need to do is remove any mold release that is left on the plastic gauge mount. This is best accomplished with an autobody wax and grease...

    no more mercon?

Dennis, Excellent analysis and response. You make a lot of sense and I, for one, hope that you are correct. Good old capitalism and self interest are powerful forces driving our markets to provide what the consumer wants and is willing to pay for. Thanks!

Any lawyers who think there may be some recourse and how to get it done? :dunno

    no more mercon?

I just saw this and am a bit surprised to say the least. If this is accurate this will be a real problem for our transmissions which do not like mercon 5. Do I recall correctly that there is federal legislation requiring automakers to make replacement parts available for ten years after a...

    How much play in steering?

You should have very little if any at all. What year is your truck and how many miles? You may be due for a replacement steering box. :(

    Truck won't start

I have replaced many starters with the same symptoms on a variety of vehicles over the past 40 years. The internals can swell and bind when they get hot and won't turn until cool again. Hope it is as simple as that.

    4" Down Pipe HELP

We installed an MBRP 4" stainless on my '02 and all fit fine. We did need to do a bit of twisting and adjusting the downpipe for clearance underneath. Get someone on the top to help while you are underneath. Leave the clamp loose enough to move the pipe and it should fit fine... assuming the...

    Steering box adjustment

Just adjusted mine the same as on other trucks in the past... mark the edge of the screw with a piece of chalk and remember its position before you loosen the lock nut since the screw will rotate counter clockwise with the lock nut when you loosen it. Turn the adjustment screw 1/4 turn clockwise...
