rising temp
My experience is same. 2005 F350 SD 6.0L CC 4x4 DRW 4:10 Auto (completely stock), heated up first trip out with heavy load. Running around town, everything was fine. Dealer replaced coolant cap, instrument panel, turbo, EGR, etc. and finally both head gaskets. Ultimately, the truck was out...- FordDieselDog

Same thing: F350 SD 4x4 CC DRW 6.0L 6spd. I pulled 14,000 lbs up a 9% grade in 105 degree weather, with no overheating or temperature issues.- FordDieselDog

My too was a lemon (same exact truck as yours). I only made 1300 miles to first problem and 5200 miles till it was DOA. My replacement truck rocks.- FordDieselDog

Never had a FORD before...until now
Truck competition among manufactures is fierce. If Ford, GM, or Dodge could produce more horse power and torque by “chipping” and make the product last 100,000 miles, surely they would. Sound like you purchased someone else’s problem (a 2005 with 52,000 miles…used as a hotshot). I have owned all three (GMC, Ford, Dodge), and they all have problems. I often laugh when people bitch about owning a Ford…try owning a GMC or Dodge when you are having problems.- FordDieselDog

And perhaps, that is the underlining problem...unqualified, under educated and ill-advised dealers which give the 6.0L the poor reputation.- FordDieselDog

The repair procedure is exceedingly invasive. I would suggest having a conversation with your service advisor, and completely document the condition of your truck before work is done. Ford really shoe-horned the 6.0L into the engine compartment, and it is really easy to damage the electrical.- FordDieselDog

I am a Ford guy. I have always purchased Fords. However, I call it like it is....FMC's 6.0L has problems, and FMC sometimes needs to join a 12 step program. In Fact, my 2005 buyback was a huge POS.
