EH? .....what restriction? Those electric fans spin so freely.....that factory fan "restricts" more air than any electric fan would :D
No harm, no foul Jesse, but you are over thinking a bit there ;)
Experience has taught me :dizzy that oil cooler service on the PSD REQUIRES you to remove the front neck---it connects the cooler to the front cover--
And no, you do not have to remove the exh mnfld.......
I say this because when I serviced the cooler on my '96 a year or so back, I did...
Jesse, negetive on having to "buy" two smaller fans......the factory Windstar set up has one motor that IMVHO protrudes too close to the vacum pulley and requires "re-clocking" by drilling new holes for the fasteners. As far as the the smaller motors being from a Taurus/Windstar ---yes the flat...
Anyone with some simple fab skills may wanna try the set up I came up with or use mine as a guide to customize your specific needs;tu
They work! electric fans article
couple pics....click the linky for the entire job and results :D
Looks like someone has already been in that cooler ......those RTV "worms" Only the "O" rings are needed to seal ...no RTV silicone
Have you also removed the front header section where it attaches to the timing cover....two bolts ....if not done and you try and "pry" the cooler...
A nice upgrade is to ditch the single idler and install a dual idler like on the stooper doopy's :sweet
On '94/'97 PSD's the tensioner has a tendency to grenade.
You COULD spend$$$$$$$$$$$$ at the stealership for just a std replacment single pulley jobby
OR Spend about US $60 for a DUAL...
Addicted.....:D
