'02 fuel pump pumping air bubbles
Dropped the tank again, pulled the sending unit, yes I re-assembled it wrong the first time, it was sucking air from about 5 inches from the bottom of tank. That explains why it took 15 gallons to stop pumping bubbles in the filter canister. I'm not sure how that would effect the fuel level in...- JimEyster

Diesel newby here, had the truck for 3 months, truck wouldn't start, was "advised" the problem was clogged filters in the tank sending unit, dropped tank, filter housing empty, seller said he removed them because they clog up easily "don't need them".
