Oil dipstick cracking
They all break. Very cheap design. I wrapped a little electrical tape around mine so no dirt or water can get into the dip stick tube.- rock_doctor

OK, really dumb question about charging batteries
Two batteries hooked in parallel behave as one big battery. Treat it as such. Hook the charger to either battery and both will be charged just like when you turn the key the starter pulls from both batteries. It isn't a boat with an isolator or house batteries or what ever. Who else would do a good job changing my ATF?
You can change it yourself or have your favorite mechanic do it. You will have to supply the oil and filters. Last year we changed the atf in the excursion. Just gave the mech a case of sp and the two filters (Only used 8qts). If you have a 4x4 you should also change the atf in the transfer...- rock_doctor

2005 6.0 Oil in Coolant
Test the coolant for hydrocarbons (exhaust). If they are found then it's the head gaskets if none or low then oil cooler. My bet is oil cooler if it isn't puking. mark- rock_doctor

COLD weather normal engine oddities
If this continues, you may want to PM ford_doctor, I remember him commenting on the other forum about a developing HPOP problem that only shows when it is cold. From what I gathered, it causes the pump to not build pressure or to build it very slowly; no pressure to the injectors, no start. mark- rock_doctor

'05 F-350 burned to the ground!!!
This will be the third 6.0 PSD to catch fire that I have heard of... The first was attributed to the coolant overflowing and shorting the wiring harness that is mounted directly under it on the fender skirt. egr valve is anybody having problems
Hum, note to self... When warranty over buy several cases of egr valves... I would unhook the valve but I am afraid that the extra particulates would clog the catalytic converter faster then it will normally... I hope that this is an issue they will fix before the 100k warranties start to run...- rock_doctor

The egr on my X was replaced last week with 4,200 miles on the clock. Mech said it was clogged... :dunno mark- rock_doctor
