Wheel bearings are turning all the time, usually you will hear it when normal driving also, a whine, growl, or any other weird noise coming from the front end. Definitely something to rule out though.- rwlundberg

backing plate is the light gauge piece of metal behind the brakes. It supposed to protect the disc from any damage, could be bent and rubbing when turning.- rwlundberg

also think about your ball joints, if there is too much slop it may make some noise.- rwlundberg
