No Start Powerstroke

ebpv question
My question is when you delete the ebpv do you remove the piston assembly from the turbo pedestal or do you cut off the rod.If you cut off the rod how much do you cut off so it doesn't hit the plug that you put in the end where the rod went through. HELP- smoking350
