Few questions about first half 99 7.3L
I got an early 99 with 160K miles now and it runs like a champ! There are a few differences with the later models but it's still a good solid truck. Oh and I put a cupholder from an '02 in it, so no more cup-thrower!- whitjo

Need help! code p0603 internal ctrl mod kam error?
Be sure to check the tube going to the MAP sensor and also the electrical connections to it. If you still have problems with it after you replace the sensor, let me know and I will get you some info on pinpoint tests for that system.- whitjo

Need help! code p0603 internal ctrl mod kam error?
You still have to get a MAP output to the PCM, else you get the code. The fooler just keeps it(the reading) from going high enough to defuel the engine, it's built into the program to prevent damaging the stock turbo from overboosting. Your boost is still going higher than what the MAP sensor...- whitjo

the P0603 can also be set whenever power is interrupted to the PCM such as disconnecting the batteries. the P0237 is probably like everbody is saying map sensor or map hose only other possibility is wiring issue to the MAP???- whitjo

Swapping PCM's into Early 99?
PMT3 Orion, The pcm I got was supposed to be a PMT2, as it turns out it's a PMT3, Jody says it will work just as well. Also it looks as if it's had a chip in it, plug is gone and contacts are cleaned. Anyway I finally got a chance to plug it in and, even stock, the shifting is like you said...- whitjo

Good Deal! I knew Jody would be able to steer you in the right direction. I saw on another forum some info about the later VDH5 not being compatible for the early 99. The way I understand, yes stock-for-stock the later PCM will work. Now I'm no expert by any means but I have been researching and reading on different forums about this swap. My advise is to call Jody at DpTuner and ask him, he IS the expert! He can and will tell you your options, VERY helpful...- whitjo
