I did have to read your post to clear things up. I thought you were referring to the denizens and proprietor of The Diesel Stop.:D

Make sure you're using a code reader that can actually read your truck too, most of the regular scanners can NOT read them.

A new CPS is now a cheap test , it would be a good place to start....

My truck did almost the same thing to me on Friday on my way to Greensboro, NC. We were passing through Charlotte and was doing about 75mph, came up on traffic and while slowing quickly (not panic) the truck just shut down. Put it in neutral, re-started it, continued driving. Did the same thing a few miles later while slowing from 50 to 30. Same recovery. After that the truck would occasionally buck and jerk a couple times but not shut down. Changed out the CPS in the hotel parking lot yesterday morning and had no problems on the trip back today. I think the truck actually ran smoother today (also had a slight knock on Friday). Mileage up a hair as well. Note: Do not buy a CPS that is more than $30 (give or take) When I cleaned out the truck after our move, I also took out my box of spare stuff so I had to buy a new CPS. The first stealership wanted $156. When asked about the $30 CPS they said all they had was the older model. The second dealership I went to only had the newer design. They had sold all of their old models so they had the new ones.

Some really rough and jerking type behavoir could be a bad Injection Control Pressure Sensor (ICP). Mine went out last Friday and had to be towed home (wouldn't start) then Saturday morning it fired right up and was hunting up and down when idling. Monitored the pressures, and at idle it should be about 500psi, and it was nearly 1000 psi.

Swapped it and then was able to get out of town for 2 days.

That was my second guess. I also bought one $$$. Didn't have to install it though. Just thought I'd get it so I wouldn't be stranded on a Sunday.
