I noticed the other day that I had a couple drops of oil under my truck on the parking lot at work. I got under the truck and saw that it looked as if it was coming from the top of the oil pan and running down. I went a couple of places and left the truck running while I was inside for about ten minutes. 1 drop there. Went back to work left it and came back out to leave......nothing on the ground. Checked the oil, still good level. Everywhere I stopped yesterday when towing my car about 100 miles I looked under...nothing then. Drove to work this morning and came back out later....3 drops:confused:
Is there something on these trucks that constantly gives trouble when it comes to leaks? Like the oil pan gasket? The truck has 108K miles.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Turbo pedestal seals and EGR actuator seals. Since it is on the rear of the engine it runs down the back. Get a flashlight and shine it at the base of the turbo and where the rod comes out of the EGR actuator (on the bottom on the exhaust side of the turbo. I had the seals on the actuator go and it was spraying oil on the exhaust pipe. The stock seals in that actuator are junk, the new factory replacement is much better. Took me ~6 hours to replace but much of that was part cleaning and screwing around.

Mine started to do the same thing today! On mine it looks like it could be the rear main seal. Its leaking right by the starter. How can i tell? Im goin to check on the turbo and egr seals to see if thats it.

Leaks that come out the back near the starter can start about anywhere up above. Any oil that leaks in the valley ends up down there.

List of things to check:

1. EBPV rod
2. Where the dipstick tube enters the pan
3. Turbo Pedestal
4. Crankcase Vent on drivers side valve cover
5. HPOP Gasket
6. HP oil lines
7. Hpop plugs (o-ring gaskets)
8. Back plug on High pressure oil rails. You will need a mirror to see these on the back of the head.
9. HP oil plugs on top of heads.
10. Pan gasket
11. Rear main

Look at the pictures in this thread...............keep in mind I noticed that I was dripping oil on the ground, and after looking under the truck I had oil covering everything underneath to the rear axle. When you leak oil up top, it makes its way to the inspection cover on the transmission and most people misdiagnose the problem as a pan gasket or a rear main seal. Check the valley (between the valve covers) with a flash light for oil, its hard to see around everything but if its shiny its oil.

Well I am no mechanic by any means, but I think I found my problem. The dipstick tube into the oil pan. How much is this o-ring or seal? Also would this make a mess a few feet back?

Thanks
So if I am reading that correctly, if I take it to Ford they're going to say "we gotta pull the motor to fix that leak"
Please tell me you are joking. I just got my car to the shop and bad news "bent exhaust valve on #2"= more money than my wife is wanting to shell out to fix "my vehicles"
Geez if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all.
