Weird EGT....

I was under the impression that anything over 1250 (for extended periods) and you are going to fry your motor.

My neighbor has an 07 Dodge (5.9L) Diesel and has an MBRP exhaust only. He is seeing 1350 (ave) on his pyro (towing stock)! :eek: But the weird thing is, he puts on a boost fooler and the Bully Dog PMT (on tow setting) and sees EGT's of 1240.

I am confused as to why a stock truck would run such high EGT's?!?:confused:

He is using the PMT set to "stock" and his pyro is in the manifold?!? The PMT is giving him the realtime digital readout. Who knows?!?! Maybe he should call bully dog.

Yes, he is not seeing that temp, just not possable for any amount of time...

He said that he saw a peak of 1367, but it averaged around 1340ish. This is towing here in NC. Not flat, but it isn't mountains either!

Yeah, I told him that that was way out of normal and he should call dodge and see what they have to say. But you are going for the more obvious solution, the programmer is out of whack.

Dodge will just tell him the same thing... its the gauge not the truck...

Interesting. I am stock and see 1400 - 1450 in the manifold towing under load. Talked to dealer and Doc - no problem there They suggested I go just after turbo as that is the temp should never exceed the 1200.

This was before the new flash and I was blowing smoke under load. The new flash has curd that - I think. This is the flash that did away with the buzzy injectors - latest one out.
