personally, I think thats your opinion, and your entitled to it. the guy was just askin for diff. options, so we all gave him some. isnt that what this site is all about? helping each other?

just givin ya a hard time JL. :thumbs :roflmao :roflmao :D

the powerslots way out performed anything OEM when i was towing. if there is better stuff out there, sure, you're gonna pay more for it.

but i am a firm believer in you get what you pay for.

Wow great information. Now is there a link to the powerslots and Hawk LT pads - you have me curious. Whee can I get them and any part numbers available for my 04 F350. I am assuming I can leave the rears alone

Also I am assuming this is still a DIY change - no special tool required, or has Ford changed that. Last disk breaks I worked on were a 77 high boy F250 with a bored and stroked 400 - don't recommend that on a 400 anymore:eek:

you can do a search on either, and will find that there are many vendors online that you can buy them from.

OR, you can check out some of the sponsers on SDD. discount power parts is one of them.

well, I am too, to an extent... I don't mind spending money on tires, oil, heck, even brake pads... but I'm also an off-the-shelf guy...

If you come up with the brake pulsation from hell, is there going to be a shop in BFE, Nebraska, capable of grinding a rotor rather than lathe turning it?

Do you also think its excessive to demand that your truck stop? Yes your oe parts will work, to a certain point..........but mine work better. Even in BFE Nevada a small one man garage can resurface a high zoot disc brake rotor.FYI

I got news for ya... I can activate my ABS just as easy as anyone else, and once the ABS kicks in, your $200 hoo-hah brake rotors just became a moot point.

Rotors are slotted and cross-drilled to dissipate heat faster. In normal driving conditions, the OE rotors or OE-replacements are fine.

If you're towing or hauling heavy loads on a regular (more or less daily) basis, yeah, I can see the need for a more better rotor. The compounded heat build up and rapid/repeated heat cycles does take a toll on rotors. IMO, if you are repeatedly warping rotors, first, make sure you are installing the wheels with a torque wrench, not a breaker bar or impact gun. the torque spec is published for a reason. If you are using this method and your rotors STILL warp, yeah; you may need to upgrade to a rotor with more cooling capacity

But the down side to them is, living in the climate I do, cross-drilling your rotors just gives rust a place to get a foot-hold, and start shaling apart the braking surface. Don't tell me it can't happen, I've seen it. A lot. Recently.

So thanks for making my crappy day worse by ripping on me because I have better things to spend my money on than freezer-burnt iron that I'll never see the full benefits of. Maybe you should figure out what I do for a living, before accusing me of not knowing what I'm talking about.

(note to admin/moderators: maybe one of the sponsors could supply me with information contrary to my opinion. Untill such point, my opinion is my opinion and should always be taken as an opinion, rather than a statement of fact)

......boohoo. (Thats my opinion)
Rotors are built and supplied to the auto manufacturers by the lowest bidder.(Thats a Fact)
Do you "think" they are giving you the best product available?
Please, Dickmon, have a great day.
