Nothin' new w/ the "X" here. Actually thinking of selling and getting an '03 2WD "X". Seems I've done what I can to this one, and it is getting up there in mileage 160K. I don't really need the 4WD as I have the 4X4 F250 now. Glad to see everyone chiming in.

Hey Bill,

Gimme a holler and I'll give you a hand with yours if you give me a hand with mine. I have a sonnax/tricumulator kit to deal with too if your up for it. FYI, I'm STILL waiting for those overload spring snubbers. Been 1 month and 1 day plus about 10-12 long distance phone calls for a $40.00 item:eek:

Bill

The further and further we get away from the final year build (2005) of our X the less and less posts will be made on all forums unfortunately.

Our Excursion is due up for a trans fluid/filter change, maybe this Sunday I'll knock it out:sweet

Hey Snowman, I understand your feelings about the by-pass. That's why I went with the Oilguard bypass filter. I'm still stocking up on the Fram filters though, good through 06-24-07.

If I ever get this beast broken in I will be using the eight gallons of synthetic Rotella I purchased.

So how do you like the Oilguard setup?

I went back and forth for quite some time between the Oilgaurd and the FS 5000 (whatever it is) and just couldn't get past the return in the drain plug. The Oilguard return is to the oil filler tube and that is what convinced me.

Very nice kit, well put together. Easy install. I mean it, you're just taking off your oil filter cover and filler tube cover, drilling a couple of mounting holes and running some hose. Easy.

In college I worked at an automotive/truck parts warehouse and was convinced then about the wisdom of additional (bypass) filtration of the lube oil and coolant and pre-heating the fuel. All are good things to do for a diesel.

Interesting, but you have the 6.0, I think mine may be different. Glad you like yours, where did you get it. Thanks, Dennis

I purchased the Oilguard from Oilguard and was very happy with the sale. I had been watching it for some time and noticed the price went up. On the installation page the instructions actually included a price, the old price! I called them to point that out and was given the opportunity to buy at the old price and took it. Nice people.
