Just throwing a couple of ideas out there. The 08' down pipe kicks ass at 4", So that is not an issue. It Goes into the cat at around 3 1/2". The cat bolts into the particulate filter with a hugh flange thats gotta be at least a 5" opening. I havent measured this but it is big. The problem is the particulate outlet, at 3 1/2". The aftermarket companies are making 4" exhaust which are not really making any difference. MBRP makes their exhaust without a muffler and it sounds the same as stock, because the particulate filter is like a muffler. They are now making a 5" exhaust. I dont think it will make much difference if you keep the 3 1/2" outlet on the particulate filter. My idea is to cut off the 3 1/2" flange and weld on a 5" flange. Now we will have some exhaust flow. The guys at MBRP said that that would probably work well. They are currently working on a particulate/cat delete pipe to make it a straight exhaust for "off road". At least that is what they call it. I am going to try the 5" flange to keep the system legal. I will install the sensor after the particulate filter like the stock flange. I will install an EGT gauge to tell before and after results at the same RPM and see if boost pressure comes in any quicker. MBRP hasn't made the 5" exhaust available yet. What do you guys think?

I talked to superchips. They offer the flashpaq with an economy tune, towing tune, performance tune, and a trans tune. I am really looking forward to the transmission tune. My transmission takes forever to switch gear to gear. Superchips said if you put the stock tune back in your truck ford cannot see any footprints from the superchips programmer. So it is warranty proof. I know I am going to get a lot mixed oppinions about this. I would like to hear your opinions. I am going to purchase an S&B intake, but get rid of their filter. Amsoil offers an exact replacement filter made of nanofiber which is used by medicine companies to filter medicine. It filters way better than stock or any aftermaket filter, no oiling required. They say it still allows way more air to flow than stock. I am looking for good filtering, so I can get many miles out of my engine. I will test all the filters and let you know if the nano fiber filter works as good as they say. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
fast eddie

Well since you said that, here's my response: Superchips is full of first-rate horsechit re: "warranty-proof" programmers. The PCM stores a bunch of different sensor readings and if the tech is sufficiently motivated, they can pull them up. If they see that your engine was running with, say, 40 pounds of boost and there is absolutely no way at all a stock PCM would allow more than 25 lbs (I pulled those numbers out of the air--actual figures may vary) that's pretty good evidence, when combined with melted pistons/heat-warped turbo vanes/grenaded engine parts or tranny internals to say that you were messing with the electronics of the engine and so your warranty wont' be worth the paper it's printed on. You pay, you play when messing with the PCM and you're a braver man than I, Gunga Din, if you're wiling to gamble with an '08 engine.

Apparently jvencius is right. I called superchips back, and talked to a different guy, who I asked the same question about the warranty. He told me that ford does have the technology to detect reprogramming, but they do not use it. Yeah ok. Then he babbled something about You still have some protection on your warranty, and some other crap. By that time I wasn't paying that much attention. Well for now, I will be doing my exhaust and intake. Before I do that, I am taking it back to ford to have them check the trans programming, and line pressure. Sometimes before shifting from 2nd to
3rd it slips a lot. Otherwise the truck is excellent. Before my exhaust I am going to put an EGT guage, so I can tell you the difference between stock and 5" exhaust. Thanks for the feed back, keep it coming.

ya know i got to drive one of these 6.4's. it was a dually but even then that thing was so much quicker than my dodge with the bully dog chip. if i get one i will definately not be doing any chips or anything. they just dont need it. i will probly do an intake so i can hear some turbo and maybe exhaust to cool it. but thats all. its sad you cant really have exhaust sounds with the new ones...

I just ordered an intake from S&B. Should be here by Friday. Instead of messing with the flange on the particulate filter, I think I am just going to scrap the whole thing. MBRP is done with a straight pipe, but they are waiting on PPE or EFI live to come up with a chip that deletes regeneration mode. When that comes out, I'm getting it. I'm done getting 14 mpg. I'll be the guinea pig and tell you guys how everything works out. Can't wait for that straight pipe.

I have in my hand a catalog from Superchips. I sell there products on the side from my house. In the back of the catalog, they have a frequently asked question section.

One of the questions is: Will It Void My Warranty.

The answer is: No. It is illegal for a dealershipe to void your warranty based solely on the fact that you have installed an aftermarket product. For information regarding denial of warranty coverage, go to the SEMA website at SEMA.org || StartPage || Specialty Equipment Market Association SEMA.

Fasteddie I am going to send you a PM of the guy that I talk to and work with when ordering parts. Hopefully you can get some better info on the Flashpaq and really see how that 08 can run.

They can however void you warranty if you melted your engine because of said installed aftermarket part, they have to prove it in writing, but they can do it.

Actually they don't have to put it in writing. If a field engineer is sent out and feels that said aftermarket parts are the root of problems he'll void the warranty. Then it's up to the owner to prove(in court) that said aftermarket item didn't cause the failure. Who do you think has higher paid attorneys. The MM act was for aftermarket air filters and such, not power adders. The OE warranties stock HP levels.

Also....removing the DPF has some federal legality and will DEFINITELY void the warranty.
