Hey gang. For most of the 118,000 miles or so on the ticker, my truck has carried a 2,700# camper down many a bumpy road. So I cannot help but think that the original springs may need to be replaced. There is no obvious problem with them, but perhaps the ride has slowly deteriorated over the years:dunno . How long do these springs generally last when used under these conditions? Thanks in advance! Pete

Yesterday when i picked up my truck. My dealer had an oil field truck in getting new springs and adding air bags to the rear set. It was a 99 and the old springs were flat beat to snot, looked like they got unsprung, very little arch left.
i was told they haul a heavyvy gooseneck and lots of drill pipe, that superduty is flat getting a work out
not to discount the bushings, i replaced em on my 92 with poly and it made a world of difference, gave back some much needed front end control.
biggest PITA ws getting the old rubber ones out. ended up burning them with a propane torch, then popped em out.

cost was at the time around 80 bux for a front set.

Thanks for the information, Richard and Robert. I have been wondering about the bushings as well and have heard quite a bit about the polyurethane bushings. Don't they give a harsher ride? Pete

my 92 4x4 sc rode like a buck board wagon,
it got the point i ran lower air pressure to help some but the front traction beam was a real kidney beater :( :(

springs were mostly flat up front and i think the tires did all the work ;)
