I'm sure a lot of people have had this problem.

It's night your in the boonies and you need something out of your truck box. Well if yours is like mine, its packed, you really need 2.

Anyone install a convenience light to come on when you open it, (like your hood). My biggest concern is that any cheapo light, will get trashed the first time I shut it.

Any Recommendations on a sturdy, reliable light? (You know, bullet proof.)

Thanks,

Barrett

i put two lights that take 194 bulbs in the lid and a swtitch on the inside mounted to the bolt that holds the box on.i got the lights at wal-mart if i remember right. they have a metal deal around tham for protection i guess. i put a regular switch in cuz i leave mine open for long periods of time and dont want to risk a dead battery. hope this helps

I put a sturdy light from tractor supply inside. It uses one 1157 bulb and is very bright. Its wired to a switched hot right now, but I have plans and the parts to use a limit switch to activate it. I may also tie it into the cabs dome light circuit and it will trigger the alarm :sweet

I have one in the bed that I tapped into the dome/cargo light circuit. It comes on when the doors are open or when you turn them on with the dash switch.

My two highway products boxes came with a shielded light with a metal banding and a very thick plastic lenses. I wired it to only be LIVE if the parking lights are on.
Have no idea who makes them but already they have been tested by a 2x8.

what about some livewell lights for a bass boat? they are about 2 inches round, i have them mounted in my livewells, storage compartments and rod lockers.

they are leds potted in plastic.. i have them in my stratos.... they will outlast the truck/boat, are pretty indestructable, and water proof (the ones in my livewells are mounted under water so i can see my fish/lack of fish at night)

they work great, you can get them at bass pro for about 10 bucks a piece, i would think if you broke these your going to have to fix your toolbox as well

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I'll have to look into those livewell lights. Now that winter is coming, it's getting darker quicker. (Besides I need a mod to do).-popcorn

If your wife or sig. other just looks at you and shakes her head, you are definitely in the right crowd! Rachel always asks if I have enough toys on mine yet? I always say, do you have enough shoes yet? :roflmao
