Fuel pump -OR- clogged tank pickup?

So it's running now right? Sorry I missed your call, I didnt find my phone till 3:00 this morning when I got in the truck to go to work.

I've been back on there for a week now, I was banned for two weeks.

He found the restriction in his 12v veggie heater and got it cleared.

Cool.....

So he shows up late today and I show him that all the lines are clear except for the steel line that snakes up to the fuel pump. We use his compressor to verify but when we blew rearward from the Pollack we heard a gurgle. He was blowing into the rear tank. Turns out that when the rear tank was dropped and lines replaced the supply and return lines were installed backward so the new Racor filter was filtering the return fuel. The lines were corrected then he loosened the fuel bowl to remove the top hose on the supply line and blew downward. Yes a glob of goo spit out of the steel line. So he hooks everything back together and primes the pump and she starts right up. He checked his pressure gauge and we saw 60 psi. OK so we're done right? Nope. He drives home and I let it high idle to charge the batteries. Still fine. It's now dark and I want to test drive it. The engine is finally warm and the alternator shows a stronger charge. I take with me a flashlight. When I'm at the other end of my gravel driveway (the one with the imaginary 2nd FPR spring) I decide to check under the truck for leaks. Sure enough a huge leak under the tranny bell housing. I pop the hood and look under the fuel pump. A diesel pond! So I get him on his cell and he admitted forgetting to tighten the hose clamp between the fuel bowl and fuel pump. To be continued tomorrow.

You couldn't make this up!!! This is one of the more bazaar stories that I have heard here. Good luck tomorrow Richard.

Did you take a dip ? ..(to help cool down?) ....

He checked the hose clamps at the fuel pump but they were tight. The valve inside the schrader was loose. So he tightened the valve and cleaned up the valley and around the fuel bowl. I just got back from a long hard drive and I'm confident that everything is finally AOK.

Thanks Kevin & Dave. Dave, what really infuriates me is that I cut and split my firewood during September, but with my truck down for the entire month that didn't happen. So it's October 10th and the 1st rain is here. I really think we got jipped this year because I was expecting our Indian summer which never came.
