Has anyone seen the new Dodge Mega Cab? I saw one at the Dallas Auto Show earlier this year and didn't like it. The rear compartment is waaay too big. I think Dodge has gone "overboard" in trying to outdo Ford and GM. To me, the Ford Super Duty crew cabs are "just right". Here's an article about the Mega Cab that really puts down Ford and GM: http://info.detnews.com/autosconsumer/autoreviews/index.cfm?id=20744
I guess that you could compare Dodge's two crew cabs to Goldilocks and The Three Bears - This one is too big (MegaCab), this one is too little (QuadCab), but this one (SuperDuty Crew Cab) is just right. :D

Oh well, the sales numbers will determine what Ford and GM will do. Plus, I think Ford's adding a 6 1/2 ft bed to the F150 Crew Cab.

IMHO........... It will be a huge hit. Show me the consumer who gripes about too much leg room or storage space.

I saw an ad the other day. They opened the rear door to get out of truck and the people had to lean forward to get hips and shoulders in front of the "extended cab like" portion of the truck. Lots of room but sure looked hard to get out of to me. Doors still looked small like olders models.

I'll bet the rear seating is set up on a seat track to adjust forward and back for better legroom

I'm a long time Dodge truck owner, I liked the old 91-93 Ram's and owned a 92 then got a 96 Ram and had it for almost 8 years I just sold it a few months ago, this is the first time since I started driving at age 15 that I have not owned a Dodge car or truck. I even took my Dodge Truck flag down out of my office lol.
I did not buy a new Ram because I do not like the way they went with the body, I thought it would grow on me but still hasnt. I like the improvements to the interior over the 2nd Gen Ram's but and what Dodge considers a "Crew Cab" just a little bigger than the club cab. The back doors are even smaller than the fronts. I do like the idea of the mega cab but to me it looks like they are just making them the same size as the regular crew cabs that Chevy and Ford have, take that back extension off and make the doors bigger and you have a regular sized Crew. I used to like the Dakota's also but they ruined them to me with the new body.
I have not liked the F150's since they went away from the OBS. To me they have gotten uglier over the years. I have liked all the Chevy body styles and like my cousin's and uncles 2000 GMC's but dont like the last couple years.

I'm underwhelmed by the whole package, closer to limo than truck.
They mention 20mpg with a gasser, not likely!
They always shoot themselves in the foot, still advertisiing the Hemi when folks are starting to look at MPG figures.
I think the 01' will last me til' I go to that big wrecking yard in the sky.
Instead of spending $50K for a vehicle, I shall buy other fun things!

I had an opportunity to check one out up close and personal a few weeks ago while I was on vacation back in South Dakota. I'd looked all over northern California for one, but no such luck....I was very surprised to see one sitting on the lot of this small dealership in Spearfish SD.

I know the owner of the dealership quite well (my wife used to work there years ago) so they let me check the thing out from all angles.

I've never been much of a Dodge truck fan, but this could be the thing that makes me give Dodge a second thought. I was very impressed with the amount of room inside of the cab. Dodge did a good job on this one!

One of my co-workers just ordered one. MSRP is hovering around $55,000 for the rig he ordered. (He's got some sort of a friends & family code, so his price is closer to 47K) It is going to be one sweet ride!!!
