Hey, i'm currently at 274k miles and i'm ready to change the tranny fluid. Just wondering what type and what brand of fluid would be best to use and is there any filters better than others to use?, thanks

I know Ford reccomends Mercon, but I'm not too sure as I haven't done a tranyy fluid change yet. There is other stuff out there, but someone with more knowledge on this topic should chime in shortly.

I always got my filter/gasket kit from NAPA along with 16-18 qts of Mercon ATF, NAPA brand also. Alot of guys like synthetic as the tranny will run cooler.

Mercon ATF has been discontinued and now Ford recommends MerconV.
