Well I have a 2008 F250 FX4, It has around 50K miles and the worst mpg I have gotten is 15.9 and the best to date is 25.6. Ive come to figure out by monitering it while driving that its all in how heavy your right foot is. And never more important that when taking off from a stop. Moderate to heavy throttle sucks down the fuel trying to push a 8500lbs truck from a stop. So I have been taking off light throttle and on long streches of road or freeway I see mpg in the 20's and in stop and go I see 16.xx-18.xx. Though mine is completely stock for now. I just droped off a 6" procomp lift and 37" BFG Mt's to be installed on monday and I have a S&B intake on the way so I will see what this does to my mpg. I looking into a kem tuner and dpf delete pipe as well.

I've had my SD for around 6 months. I don't drive it all of the time. When I do, I am average 14.5 or so general driving. Road trip with cruise (200 miles), I got a little better than 16. The truck only has around 4500 miles on it. I haven't really pulled the Fifth Wheel with it much, yet. Hope to this summer. As far as the regen thing, I've only noticed it do it once. It didn't seem to be very long, or run the engine very fast. I did notice the exhaust was quite a bit warmer than usual. I don't know if you would notice it regen when when you were moving along, or how often it will do it. I haven't had any problems at all with the truck. I really like it. It's my first diesel and seems to have plenty of power. My last truck was a 2000 F-250 V-10. My son has that one now. Never had any problems with it. The 08 milage is definately better than the 2000.

My 2002 7.3L f250 cc 6 spd manual 4x4 stock gets better than 20mpg (24mpg on a full tank once) and city/towing/4 wheeling gets 15 to 18 or better (13mpg 4x4 once at the very worst.) I am impressed since my buddy's 4 cyl toyota pickup gets 19mpg at best and some new cars still don't beat the milage I'm getting. My Dad's 2006 6.0L is very similar in milage as mine, also a manual.

16.8 on the first tank. I'm not unhappy with that. I do however look for an increase with more miles.

If it's like most other diesels, the mileage will increase. Mine is a 2002 and I've gotten almost 21 on the road, but my local (city/highway) driving is now up to around 17 or better. I try to keep the rpm's under 2000, even on takeoffs. That makes a BIG difference. Keep us posted on your mileage.

Acetone In Fuel Said to Increase Mileage

Is this just B.S. I don't know..

HI TZNU08, I'm going to try the 2 OZS of acetone for every 10 gallons of diesel in my 1999 F250 7.3 PSD with 130,469 miles. I will log all miles and ozs of acetone I put in my truck, and give you guys a detail report of my outcome.

OK I went ahead and filled-up my tank of 38 gallons plus added one cup of acetone, I will log all the miles, diesel, and I will report if the engine feels like it has more pep to it. Right now I have 130,500 miles on my 1999 F250 space-cab 7.3 PSD long-bed 2WD truck. I'm getting 15.5 to 16.5 in city driving, In MIAMI, FLORIDA. LET THE TEST BEGIN!!!!!!
