I just installed a stage 2 Dry S kit on my 08 6.4 and shortly afterwards my Check Engine light came on solid. I took it to the dealer and they basically told me there is a service bulletin about this from Ford which they interpret as saying if I leave it on there my warranty will be void and I will damage parts.

I have installed intakes on almost every car I have had in the past and this is the first one that tripped anything...

Anyone else run the AFE kits? Did you run into issues? Anyone have tips on what I can do to narrow down the issue because I don’t really want to put the stock unit on...

Thanks

TAKE IT OFF!!

Ditto:

No :rant-ing here when FMC says no warranty. You are on record with them as having the intake, unless $ is not an issue for you take it off. An intake is not worth losing your warranty.

just have to take it off when you bring it in for service, just like people who have to take programmers and chips out.

yeah, when i had my Dmax, I had a the edge/j/a on it and the egt probe i left in the header, removed the harnesses and controller, sent the truck in for a knock when the a/c is on and they had to replace a a/c line that the clearance was to close to firewall, anyways the egt probe was dangling from the header and the guy there was confused to what it was so i had to play dumb so they wouldn't screw the warranty. lol.

I purchased an Airaid intake and actually felt aome difference in throttle response. I didn't get a check engine light at all for the first few weeks but as soon as the DPF cycled I got a check engine. Today I actually got a Hypertech tuner and installed it in 5 minutes, I will post the update later as to what I think. I haven't really driven it enough to give an opinion.

I'm just guessing that as the DPF delete kits increase in popularity, we'll see this becoming less of a problem. Of course, any tuner that turned the regeneration cycle off would be for "off-road use only". (Riiigghht)

My best advice is to do what I'm doing right now...that is to play the waiting game. Be patient, and wait for the after market to get up to speed with the new trucks. Disregard manufacturers claims for the most part, and listen to guys who have actually installed the parts on their rig. That way, you'll get the straight answers you're looking for without all the bull. If you try to go out and snap up every new gadget and widget that comes along, you'll only end up wasting time and money on parts that weren't designed to work together. Plus, you'll probably end up regretting your purchase, and you'll wish you had just waited in the first place.
