I haven't read all the threads but I haven't seen any 6.4L owners fueling with BioDiesel in any blend but would like to see more discussion on the possibilities.

It is absolutely not recommended by Ford Motor Company and at most dealerships will void any warranty repairs caused by its use

What is the reason for this? I know of guys running it in their 7.3 PSD with NO trouble. I will be getting my new '08 Sat and just found this forum last night, liking what I see..

They are required to run the new ultra low sulfur diesel fuel. The old number 2 low sulfur is not acceptable either according to ford. The new emission standards and the new hp fuel system on that truck requires that fuel. The fuel system is VERY picky on that truck and w/ 50,000 lbs of fuel going through your injectors you only want the best and that is the new ultra low sulfer diesel. The 6.4 is different from any other diesel engine ford has designed. I would imagine you could run that other fuel, but for how long:dunno If it was my new 50-60 thousand dollar truck I would listen to their recommendation.

Sat. when you pickup your new 6.4 you will get a pamphlet that is attached to the turn signal switch, that say,s " Please read". In there it tells you that " The use of biodiesel is acceptable as long as the rating does not exceed 5% (B5). Any percentage of biodiesel requires you to maintain your vehicle using the severe duty maintenance schedule". Hope this helps with your question.

standards for biodiesel are not as refined or adhered to as dino diesel. fuel quality varies tremendously across the country.

i'll run b100 in my 7.3 if i can find it, but in my 06' TDI, i won't run biod- vw has the same 'reasons' as ford

b5 is a bunch of bs. any diesel will run with 5% horse piss in the fuel. and any diesel will run fine on pure b100.

the problem with higher levels of bio fuel is directly related to the DPF. it's the manufacturers bandaid way around the new emissions standards.

the DPF collects the soot from dino diesel until the backpressure builds up too high (filter gets clogged) then, they dump raw fuel down the pipe and burn-blow all the junk the filter collected out the end anyway. so istead of letting the "bad" stuff out a little at a time as the truck runs, they just puke it all up at one time.

the problem with higher levels of bio fuel is that the flashpoint is higher. the truck will go into regen (puke) mode, but won't ignite the clogged bandaid (dpf). some of the fuel eventually makes its way down the cylinder walls and mixes with the engine oil. too much of this and the oil gets polymerized (turns into pudding). you lose your oil pressure and the engine siezes.

kind of a catch 22 situation. the government wants to reduce our dependance on oil and the auto manufacturers are making impossible to do so.

just remember, the diesel engine was invented to run on peanut oil. some oil company processed crude oil to "simulate" the properties of peanut oil and called it "diesel fuel"

I bought my new '08 F250 thinking I could run Biodiesel, even told the salesman that I wanted to run it with Bio... he of course said nothing about only using 5% Bio only. I later found out after doing more research on the truck for computer chips, exhaust, etc.
I did put a half a tank of Bio in after I bought it and had no problems but now very reluctant to try it again until I learn more about this truck; however, I did get 21-24mpg on the hwy with that tank.
Love the truck but hate that I can't run a higher percentage of Bio.... don't really feel like having a yard ornament with a car payment.
Thanks to Stone Mountain Ford(Georgia) for all the help!!!
Anyone want to buy a truck?
