I just finally took delivery of my truck yesterday and the dealer installed my readylift 2.5 lift and bmf wheels with 35/12.50r20 fc cepek's. We totlly forgot about getting the wheel sensors out of the old rims so now i have the warning light on the dash. My question is, is there anyway to bypass or fix the problem without all the leg work of switching them out??

The low tire sensor/warnings is a FEDERALLY mandated SAFETY equip.
(all 2008 and newer cars & trucks MUST BE EQUIP'd).

Im willing to bet that if the tire systems isnt operating properly you WONT
pass inspection.

The TPMS light should not effect inspection. It's not a safety problem and not emissions related. So your fine there.

Only way to get that light off is install the sensors into your new rims. Did you truck come with the band type or valve stem style sensors? If they are the band type no need to dismount the tires from the rim. Just have to break the bead on the front side of the rim and remove valve stem and reinstall new oem tpms sensor. Then of course need to balance the rim.

Or some black tape can cover the light!

if the dealer swapped the tires, i would be making them fix it being that it is their mistake.

as far as bypassing it, i know with the mercedes vans i can go in with the diag. tool and play with settings such as light out indicator, tire pressure indicator, auto door locks. i would bet they could do the same for your truck.

The federal government has passed legislation that mandates TPMS on every vehicle under 10,000 lbs GVWR starting September 2007. It’s not an option for consumers who purchase new vehicles after that date, nor is it an option for tire dealers and service providers who install or repair passenger and light truck tires. TPMS is the law and if the laws are not followed, the penalties could be severe......

....The bottom line is consumers and tire dealers are not given the option of disabling the TPMS just like neither can remove a catalytic converter, the air bags, or the seat belts. In states that require a vehicle inspection, non-operational TPMS will likely cause a vehicle to fail, so those drivers will need to have the system repaired.

that said its ANOTHER worthless ill thought out system forced on us by our friends in
congress !

btw, fwiw, the FORD system can NOT be turned off <or by-passed>, and
as i said before it would be considered a FEDERAL crime.

Thank you to all for the helpfull information. I quess i bite the bullet for bands and have them installed. The dealer say's band alone for my 20 inch rims would cost about fifty a piece to order, but i do like the black tape idea and cover it !!!

I've heard of throwing all 4 wheel sensors in your spare tire or small boat type tire and airing it up to 40psi. The computer receives the signal that all sensors are aired up and good to go.
