What is your Fuel Economy?

Well after about 2200 miles I get about 13 in town and about 19 on the freeway. Doing it all on paper I'm getting about 15.8 Average.. This is not going off the computer except for the rolling numbers. I have not been rough on the pedal. I guess it could be worse. Living here in WA state about the cheapest I have found fuel for at the pump is $4.05 per Gal. getting fuel at Safeway (if you shop there) we get a additional $.10 off per Gal. Still sucks But the weather is getting better so I can start riding my Triumph again, and it gets about 40mpg at break-neck speeds.

Fuel milage

I'm glad to hear that people are gtting good fuel milage with the new 6.4 because I have been hearing other wise.

Just got back from the coast pulling my TT. I got 8.3 mpg. I used to get 14 mpg. with my '01' dodge pulling the same trailer. Hope it gets better.

7200# light weight cruizin with 1993 in the tank at about 14-15 mpg. Big difference from the ULSDF fuel

Well what gears did your dodge have and is your truck broke in yet, just wondering if they compare.

My dodge had 4.10 gears running with 35 in. bf goodrich mt's. Final gear drive was around 3.74. which is just about what my ford is . The dodge was not stock though, it was much quicker than my ford is right now. But I prefer my new ford's driveability over the dodge.

08 6.4L 4x4 Crew Lariat.

Last weekend I hauled my 32 foot 5th wheel.
With TH turned off I was getting about 9 mpg. Zero power as well.
With TH turned on I was suprised to see the mileage go up to around 13 mpg.
It seemed to run at around 2k rpm with TH on which seemed to be more in the power band. It ran great and hardly ever need to shift on hills.

I was getting 18 mpg on my way to pick the trailer up. I was soft on the pedal though.
I get about 15 mph on average in the city.
I have aroun 22k miles on my 08 now and the mileage has improved a bunch since it was new.

18 from an '08? thats the highest number i have heard yet! congrats!

just clocked my OBS at 17.25, wich proves the theory of winter fuel sucking mileage. i had been struggling to get at least 16 all winter.

Ya I have a lot of friends that allways brag on how well there fuel milage is in there doges but when we started comparing them they all had standards and 3.55 gears. When I compared my ford to a dodge that was auto and not 3.55, the fuel milage was preaty close. I got a buddy that has one of the new 6.7 and he got around 13 before he broke it in and realized how big of difference in fuel milage before truck is broke in.

From what we have learned from the techs at Dearborn, fuel mileage is directly proportional with gear ratio.

For instance, I have a 450 4x4 DRW w/ 4.88 gears and am getting approx 9.8 to 10.2 MPG. This is as good as it will get for me at the moment with only 13,000 miles on the odo. As the engine breaks in the fuel mileage will creep up a little more. When hauling -- 19,000 to 20,000lbs -- we tend to get 8.6 to 8.9 MPG. Keep in mind our neck of the woods has a lot of hills at 4% to 6% grade. On straight flat highway driving and a full load we tend to get around 9.3 mpg.

A 250 4X2 SRW w/ 3.73 gears will get great fuel mileage compared to my truck. Close to 19 or 20 depending on driving style.

For those of you with the 4.88 gears you may want to change your driving style. From what we learned if you keep your RPMs under 2k then you will see improved fuel economy. The turbos on our engine draw a lot of fuel if you stand on it from a dead stop. If you ease into the gas and build power moderately under 2000rpm you will keep the turbo from kicking in too hard. Even when you drive conservatively like this you are still faster off the line than a stock 2001 7.3 diesel F-250.

In this time of expensive diesel prices driving a little slower off the line far outweighs a huge and painful fuel bill. Up here in the Northwest $4.75 to $4.60 a gallon is pretty common.
