Helping a friend....

says truck starts, idles and will eventually run down the road fine,
but the throttle seems hard to control...lurch-ing...says barely touch
the throttle and itll spin the wheels then die...very hard to control but
says once you get it goin down the highway it cruises fine.

does this sound like the throttle pedal ? were there issues w/ it in the 7.3L ?

how much $, time & level of difficulty is it to replace the throttle pedal
(if this sounds like a familiar symptom).

I think first thing I'd do is sweep the TPS with a voltmeter and make sure it's not shorted...

did these trucks not have a throttle pedal issue ?

far as i know, they did have some issues with the go pedal(TPS is mounted on the the go pedal). you can try what JL sugggested and also check the
connection for corrosion at the electrical plug....

And I dont believe you can buy just the TPS, I think you have to buy the whole pedal assy.

BP...don't you have AE? There's a TPS PID to monitor to verify it's the problem.

I've also heard that you can drive with the cruise control buttons with no erratic behavior if the TPS is bad but I don't know that first hand.
