My mechanic is a Bridgestone/Firestone dealer. He's suggesting a set of Bridgestone Revos when I do wear these Contis out. I don't know...

I have well over 20k on my terra graplers with one rotation and thay are in very good shape. The stock continentals where shot within 22k and everybody I know have had the same problem. I would have to say the tire guy does not know how to balance them properly and as far as the leak did the replace the valve stems? That should be done whenever replacing tires.

Ok, it's been two days and I'm no longer ready to kill someone....

I plan to take it in one more time and have the shop road force balance them. But I'm going to make it clear that it's three strikes and they're out - the Nittos come off and the Conti's go back on.

Say what you want about the Conti's: they were super smooth on my PSD.

Oh, and the leak came from a bad valve stem how it went bad.

I have the Terra Grapplers on my 18 inch rims. I went one size bigger. Consumer Reports rated the Nitto Terra Grapplers as #1, that's why I bought them. The aggressive tread also sold me too!

My wheels hardly needed any weight to balance them.

Are you using the factory rims or aftermarket?

Could your rims be bent?

I had a set of LT285/75/R16 D's on my last truck. The only thing keeping me from getting a set for the new one is the fact that they do not come in 17's I put about 60K on them and still had 3/4 tread.

Dogman- I'm going to Ford Quick Lane on North FL Ave, it's just north of Busch Blvd on the east side. Guys there have been excellent so far. I've had them do a flat, alignment and force balance a set of 35" Procomp Xtremes. Prices are also very good. But more importantly, the work is done right. When 4 wheel parts put my 35's on... they shook like hell, and the weights were incorrect for the OEM wheel. the weights were flapping around.. and they only spun balanced them on a 1929 looking machine. Funny thing is their rate is as much as Quick Lane was to force balance them and put OEM weights back on!! I still don't understand how 4wheel parts corporate doesn't demand a Hunter 9700 Balancer in all stores and a training class to use it. I guess they're a business with $$ at the bottom line and they get away with what they can. They burned me, I'm done with paying top dollar for old school crap that doesn't work.

I went to 4 wheel parts to have them look at a problem and the guy there WAS going to put my 10K pound truck on a 7K pound lift and put it up so they could look at the problem. Not going to happen, all I need is some butt head dropping my truck on someone. So I stopped the work before it started and left there store in the past. There's a new 4X4 shop on hillsborough to the east of Dale Mabry by the post office.

Thats not far from me. I'm over on Dale Mabry and Hudson north of Bush.

I have to give credit where credit is due: They replaced one tire under warranty and force-balanced all of them at another shop after testing driving and felt for themselves the vibration in the steering wheel.

Now the tires are where they are supposed to be: silk smooth and totally vibration free.

I made sure to call them and thanked them for their time and effort to make it right.

The fact that they took your truck to another shop tells you that they are not arrogant, and don't act like they are the "end-all". They obviously considered that there equipment and/or procedures were possibly not what they should be in this case. Now you know that you can trust them in the future!

Calling and thanking them for going the extra mile was a CLASS ACT! Even though you were inconvenienced, that was a selfless act of gratitude! Not commonly seen these days...
