I've always pondered getting myself one, just for fun, nothing fancy, but was always put off by the cost of initial investment and parts to repair crash damage. But some guys at work showed me a easy to fly starter plane that doesn't cost too much. I was sold, so I picked up one of THESE at the local R/C hobby shop.

After putting the thing together, I taxied the thing up & down the street to get the feel for it. And promptly broke the prop when it unexpectantly went airborne on me. So on goes the spare prop.

This evening, I went to a nearby soccer field to try flying it. After a lap around the soccer field, I hit a tree. :rant Mental note to self: A 45" wingspan looks closer than it actually is.

I go check it out and seems to be OK. It give it another go, and around the field we go. I think I caught a wind gust, because it goes into a bank and I can't get it to level out before it hits the grass. Prop blade is now bent.-mad
but I can bend it back (plastic). Off we go again, into the wild blue yonder.

Another tree:cussing::cussing: Second mental note for self: gotta find a bigger field with fewer trees. Third mental note to self: the Anti-Crash Technology built into the plane, don't work with trees. :dunno

Try again, I launch it and it just doesn't seem quite right, the elevator control(up & down) isn't responding like it did, into the grass it goes again. I discover the end of the horizontal stab is bent, my one prop now has one blade instead of two and the engine cowl is cracked. I'm done for the day.:wflag:wflag

So I get home, and order 3 more props, two more horizontal stabs, an engine cowl and a few other things.

But I was doing better as I went along, but I think a larger flying area will not cause the replacement of as many parts. So with a few new parts, a larger flying area, I'll be enjoying(?) it again.

I have a 20 dollar bill in my pocket that says by July 4th next year, you've built, and are flying, an RC B-52

sounds like you're already addicted.

ya he sounds addicted already

check this site out Radio Control Zone they have plenty of info on planes and cars.great forums if you are looking for some guidance.might even be able to hook up with somebody to help you learn to fly and save you some money.they have controllers that they can plug into another controller so if you make a mistake they can correct it before you crash.that might be something you wanna look into.i know back home that you are supposed to have somebody that is experienced with flying with you the first couple times you fly.also supposed to join a club that has insurance incase you crash and damage somebodies house or something.might also want to look into the local laws about RC aircraft.:sweet good luck and i hope you enjoy it!!

even as an RC, the Buff is an impressive aircraft.

that RC F22 Raptor is a nimble little SOB, too...

Sounds like you fly like me and my kids. We gave up on flight and are sticking to the ground. We are currently running nitro Monster trucks :sweet
