Hey guys, I got a friend that drives a 6.9l diesel. He's looking to get better injectors for it since his current ones have seen their better days. Does anyone know where he can get some upgrades for his truck. I'm not sure what year it is. Thanks.

We need a little more information. First off, is the truck N/A (stock) or turbo'ed? That is probably the biggest factor. dps-performance.com is the only place that sells upgraded injectors, but I've heard bad things about them, that they flow well but the spray pattern is horrible, which results in lots of smoke, but very bad fuel economy. I would only recomend those for a turbo'ed truck. If I was him, I would buy a set of new G code injectors, they came on the factory turbo'ed IDI's and are the best injector right now IMHO, they came on the 93-94 turbo 7.3 IDI. I heard you could get new moddified tips for injectors, nobodies ever done it, and it would run $600+.

Thanks for the help. It's an 86 F-250. The motor is stock. The spray pattern on his current injectors is bad. What he was looking for was a better spray pattern than the originals. I'm not really up on the 6.9's so I figured I'd ask here.

In that case, stick with the G code injectors. They are a little more than the injectors that came stock in our 6.9's, but they are better. They flow more fuel, and have a higher pop off pressure. If you do get G code injectors, you will have to bump the timing a little more advanced because of the higher pop off pressure. I would tell him to install a pyro, I dont know if G codes will raise EGT's, but I'm thinking it would. That way you can also turn up the pump some.
