I am replacing some Cooper 265/75's that have been disappointing. I don't go off road and am looking for a good road mileage tire. I planned to stay with the stock size but after doing some searching it seems I may be better off using a skinnier tire. Can someone who has changed froma 265/75 to a 235/85 let me know which they think is better? Will I have any problems with using my stock 16" chrome rims?
Thanks,
Tim

The 2 sizes are the same height, 31" tall. If you are looking to get a little better milage the 235/85/16 are the way to go. They have less rolling resistance. Just make sure you get the same load rating. Keith

235 75 or 235 85

235/85's are 31.7 inches tall. 235/75's are 29.8 inches tall. what are you triing to do??? both will work on your stock wheels. try reading tirerack.com for info, thay will explain all tires. if you want the best milage, michlin is still the best. ya just have to lope off your arm to buy them.

It's 265/75 or 235/85

Sorry if I wasn't clear Whipit. I am trying to find out whether I am better off going with the 235/85 than the 265/75 that I am now running. If I ran offroad much I would obviously go with the 265/75's but I have no experience with the 235/85's and am trying to learn from others that have made this change.

tires

a skinnier tire is better for snow or rain traction. wider is better for floatation (off road) personally, the fatter tires look better on our trucks,so i go alittle wider....265/70/16 would give you an inch taller and 1-2 inches wider. this would ride a little better and handle sightly better. hope i helped.
