Question 08, 6.4 does not heat up at idle

HEY GUYS, Last night I was talking to a guy I ment in another web-site, He bought a SPARTAN tuner and a DPF delete pipe, he told me, that he is getting 16MPG from his 2008 F250 6.4 PSD 4X4 with an 8 inch lift, and 37x13.50x20 tires !!! He told me that his truck has 20,000 miles with that set up and he has had no brake-down. My problem now is that, I have to talk the wife into spending all this $$$ into a brand new truck with only 374 miles, Oh she is MAD at me right now, I remember it was our wedding annivarsaity, late in the afternoon while riding quads with my friends, I called her and told her the I was going to take her out to eat, BUT she has a bad temper, after 21 years of living with me you would figure, she would mellow out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 6.4 engines actuate the turbo vanes at start up with a little motor to clean them out. Its the EGR system and EGR valve used to give such problems with extended idling.

The huge cooling system of this engine will heat the block and cooling water up slowly. My truck came with the auxiliary electric heat for the cab. It takes dual alternators to power this stuff though.

Bill, I'm talking to one of my buddys at a dealership up north and he said there trying to figer out what to do about this problem. There already starting to see some truck with this problem and there plaining for more to show up. I'm making up some truck covers for him to see if it will works. The cover goes from the glass down to the ground and cover 3 sides of the truck motor bay when the truck is sitting. There also looking at the BlueHeat thing and see if it will work out to. I dont know thats the biggest pain with diesels and really cold air. :dunno

The only thing I can come up with is to put a hotter thermostat in and see if that helps.
